    Speaker: Taylor Otwell
Topic: Ruby on Rails on Windows
Summary: If you're a Windows person, getting started with Rails hasn't always been easy. Thankfully, that has changed! We'll quickly walk through installing Ruby, Rails, and Git on your machine. Then, we'll take a look at some of the slick features of the Ruby on Rails web framework while making a few comparisons to ASP.NET MVC. Finally, we'll deploy a simple application to the cloud using Git and Heroku!
Speaker Bio: Taylor Otwell is Software Engineer at UserScape, where he works on the development of HelpSpot, a leading help desk solution used by companies such as Joyent, Campaign Monitor, and Atlassian. Prior to joining UserScape, Taylor worked as a Systems Analyst for Data-Tronics Corp. in Fort Smith, AR. While at Data-Tronics, he developed a variety of client solutions using .NET technologies. Taylor is passionate about open-source software, and is the creator and maintainer of the Laravel web framework and Eloquent ORM.
